Professional History

Martin works as a UKCP registered Constructivist Psychotherapist, Supervisor and trainer, using Neuro Linguistic Psychotherapy, (NLPt). He is qualified Master Practitioner in NLP and is an INLPTA certified NLP trainer. He holds a Postgraduate Certificate in the supervision of counsellors from the University of Birmingham.

He provides psychotherapy, counselling, coaching and supervision to individuals and couples from his practice in West London and is involved in several psychotherapy, counselling, supervision and training programmes.

In the early1980s Martin volunteered with the Terrence Higgins Trust, where he was instrumental in setting the foundations for the first response to the AIDS crisis. He developed support, advice and counselling services for people affected and traumatised by AIDS in the earliest days of the crisis.

From 2002 to 2004, Martin was first vice-chair then chair of the Neuro-Linguistic Psychotherapy and Counselling Association, (NLPtCA), the professional organisation that sets standards for and seeks to develop the skills of Neuro-Linguistic Psychotherapists and Counsellors. He is a past member of the Training, Education and Practice Committee of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and has been active in helping to re-shape the structure of the organisation.

Martin provided psychological support, supervision and training to the staff and counsellors at the 7th July Assistance Centre; the organisation set up to provide psychotherapy, guidance and support to people who were affected by the terrorist bombings in London in 2005. The organisation went on to take on on 16 further terrorist incidents and disasters. Building on his established training experience Martin developed and delivered a series of workshops for the counsellors and support staff.

From October 2010, he continued this work, supervising the team providing psychosocial support to families and witnesses during the Coroner’s Inquests into the deaths arising from the London Bombings.

From 2001 to 2011, Martin trained and supervised the volunteer counsellors at Brent Bereavement Services and Bereavement Services for Hounslow. Currently he delivers courses for student psychotherapists to facilitate their UKCP accreditation.

Martin now focuses him time on providing psychotherapy, counselling and professional supervision services from his offices in West London.
