Trainer: Jim Kuykendall
Jim trained in bereavement process under Dr Elizabeth Kubler-Ross and in psychosocial care with Dr. Hugh Jolly. He worked with dying children and adolescents in both the USA and UK using Play Therapy and introduced Medical Hospital Play through out Scotland and trained Child Life Specialist in Kuwait University and through Kuwait Assoc. for the Care of Children's Health.
He taught psychological care to the caregivers of clients with HIV/AIDS on both the English Nation Board for Nursing Education 934 (HIV & AIDS) & 280 (Advanced HIV & AIDS) courses. Jim was appointed first HIV Primary Health Care Trust Advisor by the DOH for England and Wales 1990 -1992. International lecturer since 1989 and a supervisor in hospices and NHS acute settings since 1982.
Jim has been in private practice since 1992. His undergraduate work has been in psychology with a specialty in bereavement and loss. His Masters is in Childlife and Adolescent Development and Care. Jim went on for additional training in Gestalt Psychotherapy. He joined the BACP in 1984 and accredited by them in counselling and psychotherapy in 2000. He has AQA (Assessment and Qualification Alliance) accreditation in supervision in 2001.
Since 1992 Jim has run his own psychology and supervision practice. He has worked extensively in the HIV field in both voluntary and NHS settings where he provides therapy and supervision and training. His wide theoretical and clinical background in therapy and bereavement fields enable him to provide a sound personal and organisational practice.
