New developments in Existential Therapy
Trainer:
Ike C. Odina
Psychotherapist - B.Sc. (Hons.); MA
Date: To Be Confirmed.
This workshop is now accredited for CPD purposes by the NLPtCA.
The purpose of the day to enable participants to:
Recognise and have a greater understanding of the importance and versatility of existential psychotherapy as a therapeutic tool.
Equip participants with an additional means of assisting their clients.
Enable practitioners to make more accurate, appropriate assessments and referrals.
Provide a suitable time-out for participants to engage in self-reflection .
As a humanistic approach to psychotherapy, the existential mode of practice lends itself most appropriately to deeper exploration of the client's world-view - especially with regard to people from communities / cultures unaccustomed to the world of psychotherapy.
The course would benefit practitioners already working or seeking to work with people from communities / cultures unaccustomed to the world of psychotherapy, e.g. first generation Black Minority Ethnic (BME) clients, as well as faith groups etc.
Participants will be asked to engage in an active dialogue with both the trainer and each other thus providing them with the experience and opportunity to develop both internal and external facilitation.
